Here at L.J. D'Amico Home Improvement, we offer more than quality construction work; we also do Snow Plowing.  We've been in the Snow Plowing Business for 28 years.  Ironically enough, our first year was during the Blizzard of '77.

In 1977, long before I started my Home Improvement business, I decided to go into the Snow Plowing Business.  I bought a 1948, 4-cylinder Willies Jeep.  It had front and rear plow blades.  The heater worked off of a propane cylinder, and the passenger seat was a milk crate with a seat cushion taken from a boat, and a home-made backrest.  My wife was pregnant at the time, and I wasn't going to leave her at home; so I drove her around in the storm in this vehicle.

I only had 18 contracts then.  We started out that year with no problems.  The old bucket of bolts was really running good, until the snow started coming and coming and coming . . .  Those of you who lived through the Blizzard of '77 can remember how the snow never stopped piling up.  Well, that Jeep sure was a trooper; even though we went through two engines, an axle, and a rear end on it.

That storm was a learning experience, and at the same time it was a lot of fun.  Most of my customers praised me for my hard work and dedication for trying to get to their homes, though I couldn't get to some houses for weeks because of the blizzard.  That storm was a real learning experience for me.  I have some great, precious memories of that ordeal, and the lessons I've learned are still with me today.

Here are pictures of the early December snowstorm we got hit with.  The blue house on the right is our customers, and it took six hours to get the snow out of her driveway.  We had to bring in heavy equipment to do it.

These two pictures are at the Calabrese Law Offices parking lot in Hamburg, NY.  The house in the background is 24 ft. from ground to peak.  As you can see, if we don't get some sun soon, we're going to run out of room.
